Not yet. I hope I’ll be given the opportunity really soon.

What things — both in art and otherwise — have you worked on, besides comics?  Are comics a full-time gig for you or part-time?
I started teaching computer graphics around 2002. I was a lecturer in some small training centers. Currently, I am teaching as a part-time lecturer at couple of colleges in Manila .

Talk about how you broke into the business –was it easy? Hard? Ups? Downs ? Hahaha! I don’t really consider myself in the business yet. Right now, I am just in high spirits that I can finally have a chance to do what I enjoy doing. Maybe after a year or two I’ll have a better answer.

Any interesting anecdotes? When you held your first published work in your hands, how did you feel?

Did you work as an assistant to any other artists? If so, please talk a bit about those experiences.
No, I didn’t work as an assistant to any artist.

How did your parents take to the idea of working in comics? 11.) How would you describe your workspace? Is it part of your home,
Well, my mom is quite proud that I can actually have a career in comics.

or do you go “to the studio”?
Most of my work is done at home. I sometimes take work to the college where I’ll teach for a particular day and work at it there.

What job are you the proudest of?  What’s your most embarrassing?
I don’t have anything for bragging yet, hehehe!

What are you currently drawing?  Comments on that project?

None at the moment

Talk about your family: Parents, siblings, home situation. Are you married? Have kids? Names? Anecdotes about married life, how it relates to your busy schedule, etc.  If you have kids do they understand your job?  What do they say about it?  Do they read comics?
I’m married and have a son. We do everything together. When I work on my colors they are beside me watching TV, playing or doing my kid’s homework. My son loves watching superheroes on cartoon network so when he sees I’m coloring someone he knows he goes to me and watches me color.

What projects do you hope to work on in the future?
Batman, superman, JLA, most of the marvel, topcow, or aspen titles

Where do you see yourself in five years?  ten?
I hope to say I have created a name in the comics industry by then.

What is the interest in comics where you live? Do friends and neighbors know you draw comics for a living?  How do they react?
Only close relatives and friends know that I work in comics. Most of them hink its local comics. I usually don’t give further details about what I do. I just tell them I work in comics and they just say “Oh ok, good luck.”

None at the moment

Do you have any great, unsold projects in your files that nobody’s gotten to see published?
All I have are nude paintings that are mostly unfinished.

If you weren’t a comic-book artist today, what would you be?
Still teaching.

Have you taught comic-book art or had any assistants?  If so, talk about that.
The closest to comic book stuff I teach is how to setup scanned artwork and the render it in Photoshop. It is required, as far as my students are concerned, to be able to work digitally with their drawings.

The single thing you’d most like to be remembered for in your life is…?
I guess, a really good artist, teacher, husband and dad.
