Where were you born? Where did you grow up?
Born in manila Philippines and I grew up in the streets of manila as a kid I was a vendor, a delivery boy and a dish washer all at the same day after school so it was a two way learning process for me, while I was learning at school like any normal kid has gone through, I was learning how hard it is to earn money.
How about your schooling? Had you gone under any art training?
I entered an art school in painting in college and as far as art training goes for comics glass house graphics provided me.
How long have you been working professionally in comics?
Maybe about 5-6 years I started in local scenes then move to glass house graphics.
What things -- both in art and otherwise -- have you worked on, besides comics? Are comics a full-time gig for you or part-time?
Besides comics I think I did some sculpting back when I was 12 to 17 years old I was making lettering for tombstones and making angelic figurines and statues for the near cemetery at our place.
Talk about how you broke into the business --was it easy? Hard? Ups? Downs ? Any interesting anecdotes? When you held your first published work in your hands, how did you feel?
My first published work is ‘dream knight’ at first it was hard then because I was afraid screw it up but when i was in the middle of my work between page 75 going to120 I started to have confidence on my work and the butterflies in my stomach just simply disappear.
How did you settle on the style(s) you're currently using? If you have multiple styles how did you develop them?
At first I was thinking of a way to express every page in a full way without using a huge amount of time, so I develop a style which can express everything by using the right amount of energy of effort without overdoing it.
How did your parents take to the idea of working in comics?
they love it.
How would you describe your work space? Is it part of your home, or do you go "to the studio"?
i have a mini studio at my place now but for time to time I go to the studio the work with fellow artist.
What job are you the proudest of?
‘Dream knight’, ‘starcraft’ and virtual-x.
What are you currently drawing? Comments on that project?
Im currently working on some samples and developing my style more.
Talk about your family: Parents, siblings, home situation.
I have a loving mom and dad, a really big brother that looks like Buddha and an adorable little sister.
What projects do you hope to work on in the future?
I wish to work with marvel’s x-men and spider-man and batman.
Where do you see yourself in five years? ten?
still in my room doing comics.
What is the interest in comics where you live? Do friends and neighbors know you draw comics for a living? How do they react?
nope, none of my neighbors that I draw comics since I starter in the business I rarely get out of the house now.
What's 1 thing you'll always find in your refrigerator?
Milk.
What's your favorite food?
Adobong manok, kare-kare,chop suey and chocolates.
What are your favorite interests --Movies? Music? TV? Any hobbies? Sports?
Im addicted in watching movies old and new and I listen to a lot of genres in music and I am not into sports but I can run really fast (street style) and I am into wing chun now(like in that movie Ip man).
Have you ever thought of writing your own stories?
Sure, it is all written in my head.
What's an average day in your life like? Walk us through a typical day.
Start it by taking a shower and eating delicious food(eating delicious food will greatly affect the quality of my drawings), surf the internet and sit in my favorite comfortable chair and draw using my oh so favorite drawing table(i love my drawing table) then just draw for hours and do the same thing all over again the next day XD.
Do you have any great, unsold projects in your files that nobody's gotten to see published?
nope.
If you weren't a comic-book artist today, what would you be?
a chief or a racer or maybe a photographer, well I wished I was a astronaut or a clown or a magician.
The single thing you'd most like to be remembered for in your life is...?
as a true artist.
