Where were you born? Where did you grow up?
Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Born and Raised.  Awesome City, great restaurants! Can’t say much about our Hockey team right now.

How about your schooling? Had you gone under any art training?
Packed my pencils and headed off to the west coast where I attended Vancouver Film School for a year and graduated from the 2D Animation program.

How long have you been working professionally in comics?
I broke into the comic industry in 2005. But I’ve been working professionally as an artist since 1998. I got my start after I graduated working as a designer / layout artist on several animated projects.

What things -- both in art and otherwise -- have you worked on, besides comics? Are comics a full-time gig for you or part-time?
Besides comics, and animation, I've worked as a freelance artist, focusing on design and illustration. This includes background design, character design, storyboards and toy design.

Talk about how you broke into the business --was it easy? Hard? Ups? Downs? Any interesting anecdotes? When you held your first published work in your hands, how did you feel?
One word. Perseverance. I broke into the comic book industry 2 years ago at a convention.  And when I finally got to hold my first published comic book in my hands, the feeling of accomplishment was great.
It is an odd feeling though, handing your work off to someone and then receiving a finalized copy of your work in comic book format…odd, but definitely great.

How did you settle on the style(s) you're currently using? If you have multiple styles how did you develop them?
My styles vary from project to project.  I don’t believe in “one style suits all”. I’ve learned this early on, in my animation projects. I believe that an artist should render a style that best suits the writer’s script as well as knowing who the audience is that you want to reach. When I’m developing a new style, I always try and do a lot of research in the way of books, film and art then when I get the vision in my head I head, I grab that paper and get to work.

How did your parents take to the idea of working in comics?
Drawing always came naturally to me. So they weren’t surprised when I decided to make a career out of it.  I had their full support.

How would you describe your work space? Is it part of your home, or do you go "to the studio"?
Right now I freelance, so I work from home.  My workspace is way too small and crowded but functional.  I have books and sketchpads all over the place.

What job are you the proudest of?
Tough for me to pick just one, but I’d have to say the first animated show I worked on, Heavy Metal 2000.  I got a real kick out of seeing my work on the big screen.

What are you currently drawing? Comments on that project?

I’m currently developing some artwork, for a merchandise company. It’s still in the beginning stages of development, so the ideas are still going back and forth as to what the client wants as a final look.  This stage is always interesting, however, actually getting to sit down and draw it and see the final product is what I look forward to or finding a little something to give it that extra visual pop.

Talk about your family: Parents, siblings, home situation.
I’m married to my high school sweetheart eight years now. Things are great between us and we always have a lot of fun together. We don’t have any children yet but are looking forward to starting a family.

What projects do you hope to work on in the future?
I would love to work on some classic Marvel and DC characters.  I grew up reading their comic books and all those great stories, so to be able to be a part of that would be awesome.

Where do you see yourself in five years? ten?
Sipping margaritas on an island somewhere :P  Actually I’d like to be producing artwork for the major studios. I see myself working on some classic comic book characters, like I mentioned before this would be my ideal job.

What is the interest in comics where you live? Do friends and neighbors know you draw comics for a living? How do they react?
It’s funny the reaction I get when I tell people that I’m an illustrator. The usual comments are  “wow that’s cool” or ”you get to color for a living??” Children are always the funniest because they get so excited when you talk to them about superheroes and they love to get a little drawing that they can take home.

What's 1 thing you'll always find in your refrigerator?

Cold beer!  Oh yeah and 1 or 2 things that have gone bad.

What's your favorite food?
You can’t go wrong with a good ol’ fashion Steak and potatoes. Throw in a BBQ and a couple of cold ones and you got yourself a party going on.

What are your favorite interests --Movies? Music? TV? Any hobbies? Sports?
Definitely movies and music. Some of my favorite bands are Metallica, AC DC, Motorhead, Van Halen, Rolling Stones …   My favorite movies are everything and anything form Martin Scorsese, Francis Coppola, Steven Spielberg, Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Sergio Leone, David Lynch, Ridley Scott, John Woo. I love the way they create their movies, they’re so passionate about them and take every detail into consideration.
Have you ever thought of writing your own stories?
I have some ideas and concepts that I’d like to get down into a script one day. But for now I’ll leave the writing stuff to the pros.

What's an average day in your life like?  Walk us through a typical day.
Usually wake up at around 7:00am get the coffee brewing check my email, then it’s off to get some exercise for about an hour.  Shower up then have some breakfast. My workday usually starts at 9:00am until 6:00pm with an hour break for lunch. Depending on the deadline sometimes I will work past 6:00pm.

Do you have any great, unsold projects in your files that nobody's gotten to see published?
ActuallyI do have quite a few projects. I developed them with a writer friend of mine. We’re always working on some new idea or concept.

If you weren't a comic-book artist today, what would you be?
I’d probably be in the film industry working as a director or cinematographer.  Something along those lines. I can’t picture myself sitting in cubicle making phone sales, trying to sell dog food or something like that, I would go insane.
