Where were you born? Where did you grow up?
I was born in Naguillan Isabela, my parents raised me in Laguna my fathers hometown. And after graduating in elementary, my family decided to live in Manila.
Schooling? Art training?
I took up a course at STI College, No formal art training I just found out that I could draw.
How long have you been working professionally in comics?
I was doing comics for almost four years. I started as a freelance artist in Filipino Funny Komiks.
What things – both in arts and otherwise – have you worked on, besides comics? Are comics a full-time for you or part-time?
I also worked as a Online Game Designer, at Vitas Development.
Talk about how you broke into the business – was it easy? Hard? Ups? Down? Any interesting anecdotes?
I remember when I was just starting. It was so hard broke into this kind of business. At first nobody wants to give me a script, co’z they felt that I cant do it on time. But because of my determination I continue what I want and that’s it.
When you held your first published work in your hands, how did you feel?
Wow. It’s feels great, I cant explain that kind of feeling.
Did you work as an assistant to any other artists? If so, please talk a bit about those experiences?
Sometimes I worked as an assistant to other artist, for me it was a great experience co’z you learned a lot from them.
How did your parents take to the idea of working in comics?
At first they don’t like it, they thinks it’s a waste of time to do drawing, but now they understand, they are more proud than me.
How would you describe your workspace? Is it part of your home, or do you go “to the studio?
I occupy a part of our living room, Sometimes I used our dining table where my reference scattered around but mostly I go to the studio co’z most of the time I do assist on other artist.
What job are you the proudest of? What’s your most embarrassing?
All projects I’ve done, I proud all of that.
Talk about your Family: Parents, siblings, home situation. Are you Married? Have kids? Anecdotes about married life, how it relates to your busy schedule, etc. If you have kids do they understand your job? What do they say about it? Do they read comics?
My family are very supportive in me, I have two sisters. And my wife she’s also very supportive. I had two kids, yah they really love reading comic book.
What project do you hope to work on in the future?
My dream is to work on a big comic publishing. Or work in a movie adaptation where im the one who design all the main characters.
Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten?
Still drawing .I think.
What is the interest in comics where you live? Do friends and neighbors know you draw comics for a living? How do they react?
Yah. Some of my friends know that I do comics for living.
What’s 1 thing you’ll always find in your refrigerator?
Water. Anything to eat when I get hungry.
What’s your favorite food?
My favorite food are “sinabawang gulay’ pasta and fruits.
What are your favorite interest—Movies? Music? TV? Any hobbies? Sports?
I like go to the movie hauses, Movies are LOTR, Comedy movies Music RNB, love songs. Hobbies playing Online Game specially Bangu-bnag Mania.
Have you ever thought of writing your own stories?
Someday ,maybe?
Ever been in a gag?
Nope I’ve never been in a gang.
What’s an average day in your life like? Walk us through a typical day.
I woke up in the morning do everything what I want to do, And do some sketches for practice. Then work till night.
Any humorous or interesting anecdotes to tell about the comics business?
Artist is like a tree they grew up and die. But the comics they do its remain forever.
If you weren’t comic-book artist today, what would you be?
I don’t know, but I think a data encoder or call center agent.
The single thing you’d most like to be remembered for in your life is…?
That someday I become popular. In this kind of business.
