Where were you born? Where did you grow up?
I was born and I grew up in São Paulo.

Have you already taken a drawing course/art training?
I studied at Escola Panamericana de Artes.

How long have you been working professionally in comics?
I've just started working with comics.

Have you already worked as an assistant of any other artists? If so, please talk a bit about these experiences.
No.

How did your parents take the idea of working with comics?
They've always supported me in everything, whatever my decision was.

How would you describe your work environment? Is it part of your home, or do you go "to the studio"?
It's part of my home and it's where I have my main inspiration sources; my books, magazines, CDs. It's where I work and it's where I have fun.

What work are you proudest of? What's your most embarrassing?
I think I don't have a work which I'm most proud of, or a work that made me feel ashamed. I really like a Marseille tarot cards set. I made 78 arts for the cards, all of them in collage. The result satisfied me a lot. I also like a promotional illustration of an animated series for MTV where I had total creative freedom.

What are you currently drawing? Comments on that project?
I'm working on some sketch cards for Marvel Comics/Rittenhouse Archives and I'm working on the creation of a new Marseille tarot and a Wicca tarot, besides the creation of characters to be turned into sculptures.

Talk about your family: Parents, siblings, home situation. Are you married? Do you have kids? What are their names? Do you have anecdotes about married life? How does it relate to your busy schedule? If you have kids, do they understand your job? What do they say about it? Do they read comics?
I'm married and I have a 2 years old daughter. She can't read yet, but she loves drawing. I have two younger brothers that live with my father. My mom, who I miss so much, died in July 2000. She was my great encourager.

What projects do you hope to work on in the future?
I hope I work on comics and children's book illustration.

Where do you see yourself in five/ten years?
I hope I'll be drawing and taking care of my family.

Tell us one thing we'll always find in your refrigerator.
Milk.

What's your favorite food?
Pizza! Pizza!

What are your favorite interests? (i.e.: movies, music, TV, sports, any other hobbies, etc)

I love music! Besides drawing, my other great passion is music. I have a huge collection of vinyls and CDs, organized in alphabetical and chronological order. Regarding sports, I skated for a long time. I have a record of fractures and I drove my mom mad.

Have you ever thought about writing your own stories?
Yes, but just forget about it...

Have you ever been in a gang?
No, never.

Do you have any great unsold projects in your files that nobody's got to see published?
An interactive children's diary.

If you weren't a comic-book artist today, what would you be?
I'd have a rock band.

Have you taught anyone comic book art or had any assistants? If so, talk about that.
No. I think I can't teach well.

The thing you'd most like to be remembered for in your life is...
As a person that has always tried to evolve, seeking for new possibilities in life and in the profession.

Any closing words for your fans?
Fans? Do I have any fan? I have friends that always encourage me and inspire me. I leave a phrase of a person who I admire a lot: "Have faith in yourself!"
