Celso Mathias was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and began his  career 25 years ago in the plastic arts field, utilizing an academic painting style. These days,  he works mainly with advertising illustrations. 

In 2004 was lord of tenure by the  American master Frank Frazetta with an autographed photo holding a portrait that the had given.

Blessed with a fantastic imagination, Celso began charming the fantasy world at an early age. He started to colaborate with the  Começou então, a retired publisher VECHI drawing comics. In 1993, he coloured Lady Lambada, a  Cesar Lobo graphic novel published in Belgium. He then illustrated a cover the for EDDIE magazine in 2002, for Escala Publisher. In 2004 and 2005, in partnership with the amazing penciller Vitor Ishimura, he began to work on a series of RPG Covers for Mongoose Publisher in England,  resulting in spectacular covers like CONAN: MESSANTIA - City of Riches, Monster Encyclopaedia I and II, and The Drow War.

In 2005 he produced 4 terror covers with partner Flavio Hoffe to USA, and had his work on display iin the Casa da Matriz and also during the mega tatoo event "TATTOO ZONE RIO FESTIVAL 2005". Recently he collaborated on 4 illustrations for the magazine "DragonSlayer" from  Mantícora publisher.  He also collaborated on a monthly comic for the magazine "Tattoo Zone".

Celso Mathias has already painted more than 200 works using the classic techniques of oil, acrylic, lead and watercolor.
